RINDGE, N.H. – Led by a triple-double from junior
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake), the Pace University volleyball team tallied a 3-1 win (25-16,19-25, 25-19, 25-20) over Franklin Pierce on Friday night. The Setters have now won six matches in a row, and stand at 17-3 overall (6-1, NE10) this season.
Nidini was masterful in all facets against the Ravens, piling up 13 kills, 26 assists and 10 digs. Nidini didn't make a single error en route to a remarkable .722 hitting percentage. Senior
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) was also stellar on Friday, recording her third-straight double-double. She finished with team highs in both kills (15) and digs (18).
Junior
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) also notched 18 digs, while
Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani) was the third Setter with double-digit kills (10) in the match. Sophomore
Nicole Pivetti (Modena, Italy/Liceo Wiligelmo) helped out in the attack as well, dishing out a career-high 24 assists.
The trio of
Sandra Yang (Bothell, WA/Edmonds-Woodway),
Mackenzie Byrne (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) and
Kathleen Benson (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) supplemented the Setters' offense, combining for 23 putaways. As a team, the Blue and Gold posted a solid .281 hitting percentage.
