How it Happened
A hot start from Rosalbo and
Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) catapulted the Setters in the first quarter. The duo combined for Pace's first 10 points of the game. It was then a three-pointer from Olikhver that gave Pace a 13-9 lead while a free throw from
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School) provided the Setters with a 14-11 lead after one.
It was a slow start for the Blue and Gold in the second quarter, with their first field goal not coming until the 6:07 mark. Although Olikhver put Pace on the board in the frame, it was DelliSanti that contributed seven points in the quarter, leading to a 26-25 halftime edge for the visitors.
Facing a one-point deficit at the half, Assumption began the third quarter with seven straight points to take a 32-26 lead. The early run set the tone for a big frame by the home team. The Greyhounds' edge would eventually grow to 42-32 and then 52-36 by the end of the frame. Olikhver was the leading contributor for the Blue and Gold, scoring six of Pace's 10 points in the quarter.
The fourth quarter wasn't much different than the third as Pace was never able to cut the lead below 16 points. Assumption put together a 15-14 frame to secure the 67-50 final.
