Five in Double Figures Lead Women's Basketball Past Franklin Pierce, 84-54

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Highlighted by five scorers in double figures, the Pace University women's basketball team scored a season-high point total in an 84-54 victory over Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday night. The win improves the Setters' record on the season to 9-7, as the Blue and Gold are now 6-3 in conference play.

Inside the Numbers
*Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) led the offensive explosion with a team-high 20 points. Wednesday's game marked the fifth time the junior guard has tallied 20 or more points this season. Monteleone now leads Pace in scoring this season at 12.9 points per contest.

*Geena Rosalbo (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) matched her season-high with 18 points. The senior guard hit seven field goals to replicate her season best, as well as setting a new season high with four steals on the defensive end.

*Italee Brown-Smikle (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) got involved in the scoring with a career-high 13 points, with 11 points coming in the second half. The sophomore guard sank a season-best five field goals.

*Rounding out the scoring was Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) and Lauren Schetter (Beacon, NY/Beacon High School), who combined for 21 points. The sophomore guard DelliSanti scored 11, reaching double figures for a second-straight game. Following her Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week nod last week, Schetter scored 10 to make it three straight contests with 10 or more points for the freshman forward.

*As a team, the Setters shot .451 from the field and .348 from beyond the arc.

*On the defensive side, the Blue and Gold forced 24 Franklin Pierce turnovers, the ninth time that Pace has forced 20 or more in a game. The Setters recorded 11 steals throughout the night to disrupt the Ravens' ball movement. Seven Setters registered a takeaway in the contest.

How it Happened
Pace was able to take control of the game from the start, firing out of the gates with a 10-2 run over the opening three minutes. A pair of three-pointers from Monteleone and Rosalbo helped set the tone early. Franklin Pierce hung tough over the opening half, narrowing Pace's lead down to a single possession twice in the first quarter. The Setters regained some distance towards the tail end of the quarter, rebuilding their lead to 19-10 with two and a half minutes remaining, but the Ravens scored seven of the final nine points to chip Pace's advantage down to 21-17 at the end of one.

The Ravens were able to continue to ride momentum into the second, as they capitalized on Pace's inability to record a basket over the opening three minutes to take their first lead of the night at 23-21. The Setters quickly came to, scoring 12 consecutive points to go up 33-23, a lead they would not relinquish. DelliSanti led the run with seven of Pace's points. The Setters extended their lead to as high as 12 in the half, taking a 38-30 advantage following 20 minutes of play.

The Blue and Gold offense continued to fire on all cylinders in the second half, outscoring the Ravens 46-24 over the final two quarters. The Setter lead never fell below double digits after Pace opened up the half with a Rosalbo bucket, and spent the last eight and a half minutes of regulation with a lead of more than 20 points. Pace wrapped up the victory by outscoring Franklin Pierce 28-13 over the final 10 minutes, and earned their first win of 2018 with the 30-point victory.

The Setters return to the road this weekend as they continue their nine-game stretch of conference opponents. Pace travels to Assumption College on Saturday to take on the Greyhounds for a 1:30 p.m. tip.
