No. 7 Pace Field Hockey Ties Program Mark in Win at Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - Fueled by four second-half goals, the seventh-ranked Pace University field hockey team put together a 5-0 win over Molloy College on Saturday afternoon. Not only does the win improve the Setters to 9-1 this season, but it also ties a program record for victories in a season.

In another commanding effort for the Blue and Gold, senior goalkeeper Lesly Sanchez Alvarez (Stamford, CT/Stamford) needed to make just one save in recording her sixth shutout of the season. She now boasts a miniscule goals-against average of 0.49 in 10 games this year.

Sophomore Rachel Beam (Red Hook, NY/Stissing Mountain) scored Pace's first two goals, including the Setters' lone tally in the first half. Beam provided a 1-0 edge in the 14th minute off an assist from freshman Lisette de Bruin (Bilthoven, Netherlands/Het Nieuwe Lyceum). De Bruin continues to lead Pace in total points with 11.

Beam struck again at 37:31 with her third tally of the season.

Junior Rebecca Kauffman (Mount Joy, PA/Linden Hall) added to the visitors' lead in the 49th minute, putting in her first goal as a member of the Blue and Gold. Classmate Jenna Sanossian (Miller Place, NY/Rocky Point) earned the assist on the play for her 10th point of the season.

Pace's final two tallies came from Samantha Gray (Greenlawn, NY/Harborfields) in the 54th minute and Jasminlyn Miller (Hancock, NY/Hancock Central) in the 61st minute. Miller, who tallied her first-career goal, was assisted by freshman Aniek Kroezen (Leidschendam, Netherlands/Gymnasium Novum).

Pace outshot Molloy by a 27-3 margin, including 15-1 in shots on goal. Pace also notched nine penalty corners compared to just one for the Lions.
