BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's soccer team moved its record to 4-5 this season with a 3-0 defeat at No. 10 LIU Post (7-1) on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman
Mackenzie Kurek (Goshen, NY/Goshen Central) accounted for a pair of shots on goal in the second half for the Setters, while
Shannon Glenn (New Hampton, NY/Goshen) had a header saved by the LIU Post goalie in the 20th minute.
Seniors
Hayley Pascoal (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) and
Aisha Chauhan (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) each played one half in net, combining to make four saves.
It was a pretty even opening half with neither team generating a shot until the 14:55 mark. The Blue and Gold maneuvered four corners in the first 45, but were unable to finish any of the set pieces. Glenn's saved header came off a corner kick from
Drew Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, NY/Valley Central).
The Pioneers had three different goal-scorers in the match, beginning with Julia Duffy in the 26
th minute.
Up 1-0 at the break, the Pioneers quickly added to their lead just 1:48 in the second half. Gabrielle Clarke put in her sixth goal of the season. The home team's final tally came off the foot of Andrea Huntzinger at 52:25 of the second half.
