EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Pace University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat (25-16, 25-21, 27-25) on the road at East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday night. The Setters fall to 4-9 on the season while ESU moves to 10-3.
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) led the Pace attack, notching her fifth double-double in the last six matches and 35
th of her career. The junior hitter put together totals of 13 kills and 16 digs while hitting an extremely efficient .407 for the match.
Pace's offense was complimented by six kills from both
Sydney Lecker (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) and
Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani), while sophomore setter
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) recorded 28 assists and six digs.
Defensively, Calimpong-Burke chipped in a solo block and sophomore libero
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) finished with 17 digs. Pace nearly forced a fourth set, falling in the final frame by a margin of 27-25.
