How it Happened
The first set proved to be the toughest for the home team. In fact, the Setters had to battle back for much of the frame before pulling away late. Down 21-19, the Blue and Gold closed the game on a 6-1 run. Fontanet posted a kill and an ace during the stretch, while Snelling capped off the triumph with a put-away of her own.
Pace's first-set victory proved to be just the momentum needed to put together the sweep. After making 10 errors in the opening frame, the Setters put together just nine the rest of the match.
Fontanet's six kills paved the way for a 25-19 win in the second set. Following a back and forth beginning, the Setters used a 7-3 spurt to gain a 20-14 edge. After Saint Rose cut the lead to 20-17, the Setters stayed aggressive to close out the win, 25-19.
The home team rode the 2-0 lead into its most decisive win of the match in the third. Led by four service aces, along with five kills from Lecker, the Setters earned a 25-17 final-set victory.
