PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – A day after earning the program's first-ever national ranking, the Pace field hockey team (No. 8) improved to 6-0 this season with a 1-0 win over American International College on Wednesday at Finnerty Field.
The victory signified Pace's third shutout of 2017, maintaining just three-goals against in six contests this fall. Senior keeper Lesley Sanchez Alvarez made a pair saves in net to also improve to 6-0 on the year.
Junior
Jenna Sanossian (Miller Place, NY/Rocky Point) knocked in Pace's lone tally, registering her second game-winning goal of the season at 33:32 of the first half. In fact, Sanossian's other winning tally also came in a 1-0 home victory against Assumption on Sept. 9.
Freshman
Aniek Kroezen (Leidschendam, Netherlands/Gymnasium Novum) earned the assist on the play after launching a perfectly placed cross that landed right on the stick of her teammate.
Despite scoring just one goal, the Setters were rather dominant. Pace registered an 18-2 advantage in shots on goal. Freshman
Lisette de Bruin (Bilthoven, Netherlands/Het Nieuwe Lyceum) tallied a game-high six shots on net.
Yellow Jackets' goalkeeper, Alexis Torosian, made 17 stops in the losing effort.
