NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Pace University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-22) defeat at Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday night.
Junior
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) recorded her second double-double of the season to lead the way for Pace. She finished the night with 11 kills (.212 hitting percentage) and 11 digs. Fontanet leads the Setters in total kills (66) this season, and ranks second in digs (94).
The trio of
Tatjana Calimpong-Burke (Waianae, HI/Iolani),
Elien Peeters (Herdersem, Belgium/Onze Lieve Vrouwecollege) and
Maria Snelling (Cleveland, OH/Gilmour Academy) supplemented the Pace attack. Calimpong-Burke tallied seven put-aways while Snelling and Peeters combined for 12. Calimpong-Burke also chipped in a team-best 13 digs.
Sophomore setter
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) racked up a match-high 27 assists, to go along with eight digs.

The Setters will play a pair of home matches this weekend. Pace takes on Molloy College on Friday (7 p.m.) before welcoming the College of Saint Rose on Saturday (1 p.m.).
