Lucas' Game-Winner Lifts Women's Soccer to 2-1 Overtime Win at New Haven

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman midfielder Gabby Lucas (Beacon, NY/Beacon) scored her first-career goal in double overtime to lift the Pace University women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over the University of New Haven on Tuesday night.

Lucas is the second Pace freshman to notch a game-winning goal in extra time this season, joining classmate Gina Henson (Carmel, NY/) (Georgian Court).

It was a rebound that setup the thrilling conclusion as Victoria Kealy (Nutley, NJ/Nutley)'s initial shot on net was saved by New Haven keeper, Kyra Wolonsavich, before Lucas put home the clincher.

Speaking of Kealy, the junior scored her second goal in the last three games for the Setters' other tally of the night. Kealy curled in a perfectly placed ball at the 55:46 mark of the second half.

The Chargers evened the score, 1-1, at 71:54 off a goal from Kelly Quigley.

Pace outshot the home team, 13-12, including 4-0 in the extra periods. Kealy registered a game-high four shots on net.

Senior goalkeeper Hayley Pascoal (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) picked up her second win in net this season. Pascoal and classmate Aisha Chauhan (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) combined to make eight saves.
