PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Playing for the first time at home in 2017, the Pace University volleyball team opened the Northeast-10 Conference season with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-22) defeat to Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Sydney Lecker (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) led the way for the Blue and Gold, nearly notching her first double-double of the season. The Colorado native made just one error on the way to racking up nine kills and nine digs.
Natalia Quinones and
Maria Snelling (Cleveland, OH/Gilmour Academy) supplemented the Pace attack with five kills apiece. The duo also combined for four blocks and four digs.
Sophomore libero
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) picked up a team-high 13 digs and three service aces, while classmate
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) dished out a squad-best 19 assists.
Milestones Made
Lecker, Vaiano and Calimpong-Burke each eclipsed milestone marks on Saturday. Vaiano and Calimpong-Burke each surpassed career marks in digs (800 for Vaiano, 300 for Calimpong-Burke), while Lecker registered her 700
th career kill.
