PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 contest to No. 16 Adelphi University on Wednesday night at Pace Stadium. The Setters move their record to 2-3 this season, and 1-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
The Setters, who scored first in the contest, battled for all 90 minutes against the nationally ranked Panthers. In fact, Pace outshot Adelphi by a 12-8 margin, including 6-5 in shots on goal.
Victoria Kealy (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) notched Pace's lone tally at the 19:28 mark. The junior rocketed her first goal of the season after a nice find from freshman
Gabby Lucas (Beacon, NY/Beacon).
Adelphi struck back in the 27
th minute, evening the score off a tally from Jeanine Nunez. Erica Bleimeyer earned the assist on the play.
Alexsis Weiser registered the game-winner for the visitors at the 53:57 mark of the second half. After a nice initial save from Pace senior goalkeeper,
Hayley Pascoal (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township), Weiser cleaned up the rebound to put Adelphi up 2-1.
Pace had some chances down the stretch, including a couple of deep shots that went just wide from Lucas, but couldn't find the equalizer.

The Setters will take on another nationally ranked foe this weekend. Pace hits the road to face No. 21 Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
