Pace Women's Soccer Falls to No. 16 Adelphi, 2-1

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought 2-1 contest to No. 16 Adelphi University on Wednesday night at Pace Stadium. The Setters move their record to 2-3 this season, and 1-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Setters, who scored first in the contest, battled for all 90 minutes against the nationally ranked Panthers. In fact, Pace outshot Adelphi by a 12-8 margin, including 6-5 in shots on goal.

Victoria Kealy (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) notched Pace's lone tally at the 19:28 mark. The junior rocketed her first goal of the season after a nice find from freshman Gabby Lucas (Beacon, NY/Beacon).

Adelphi struck back in the 27th minute, evening the score off a tally from Jeanine Nunez. Erica Bleimeyer earned the assist on the play.

Alexsis Weiser registered the game-winner for the visitors at the 53:57 mark of the second half. After a nice initial save from Pace senior goalkeeper, Hayley Pascoal (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township), Weiser cleaned up the rebound to put Adelphi up 2-1.

Pace had some chances down the stretch, including a couple of deep shots that went just wide from Lucas, but couldn't find the equalizer.
