Pace Baseball Drops Series Finale to Saint Rose

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Pace University baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision to the College of Saint Rose on Sunday in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action at Bob Bellizzi Field. The Setters still claim the series win after defeating the Golden Knights twice on Saturday.
 
SCORING PLAYS
Bottom 1st – Saint Rose
- With the bases loaded, designated hitter Kenny Fils-Aime hit a two-RBI single to right, giving the Golden Knights a quick 2-0 lead.
 
Top 4th – Pace
- Senior catcher Frank Mayo (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) was hit by a pitch, then senior second baseman John Kukura (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) walked, and then junior center fielder Michael Gulino (Meriden, CT/Maloney) singled to center to load the bases.
- Senior left fielder Domenick Luongo (Darien, CT/Cardinal Spellman) then grounded out to short, but managed to score Mayo to cut the deficit in half.
 
Bottom 4th – Saint Rose
- Four straight singles for the Golden Knights to start the fourth brought in another run for Saint Rose.
- After the first out, catcher Joe DeLuca singled to left, knocking in two more runs to make it a 5-1 game.
 
Bottom 5th – Saint Rose
- The Golden Knights had runners on second and third when an error allowed a run to score and make it a 6-1 lead for Saint Rose.
 
Top 6th – Pace
- Kukura tripled to right to open the sixth.
- Luongo then knocked him in on a ground out to first, getting Pace back within four.
 
Bottom 7th ­– Saint Rose
- Fils-Aime doubled to center to keep the inning going with two away.
- Left fielder Michael Shine then singled to center, knocking in Fils-Aime to make it 7-2.

- Luongo hit 1-for-4 with both of Pace's RBIs.
