Pace Baseball Falls in Divisional Tilt to Adelphi

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University baseball team dropped a 7-0 decision to Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action Tuesday afternoon at Peter X. Finnerty Field.
 
SCORING PLAYS
Top 4th – Adelphi
- Designated hitter Brett Malm led off the fourth with a single.
- With one away, first baseman Robert Vani added another single through the left side to get two runners on.
- Shortstop Michael Stack then ripped a double to left-center, scoring both runners to put the Panthers ahead, 2-0.
 
Top 7th – Adelphi
- Stack led off the seventh with another double, this time down the right-field line.
- He then moved to third on a failed pickoff, and scored on a sacrifice fly by catcher Kory Cassara to put the visitors ahead, 3-0.
- Second baseman Zack Levinson kept things going with a single to right, and then third baseman Steven Withers singled through the left side.
- Center fielder Jonathan Iadevaia followed with an RBI triple to bring in two more runs and make it a 5-0 game.
- Malm then sent a two-run homer over the left-field wall to push Adelphi's lead to 7-0.
 
PITCHING DECISIONS
Win: TJ Santiago (8-2)
Loss: Ryan Aquino (Mamaroneck, NY/Rye Neck) (6-4)
 
SETTER STATS
- Junior center fielder Michael Gulino (Meriden, CT/Maloney) hit 1-for-3.
- Freshman Brian Bohlander (Stony Point, NY/North Rockland) picked up a single in a pinch-hit opportunity in the ninth.
 
PANTHER LEADERS
- Malm batted 3-for-5 with two RBIs, two runs and a homer.
- Stack finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs, a run and a pair of doubles.
- Iadevaia hit 1-for-4 with two RBIs, a run and a triple.
