PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In a recently added non-conference doubleheader against Stonehill College on Sunday, the Pace University baseball team picked up another pair of victories at Peter X. Finnerty Field, running the Setters' win streak to nine games. Pace picked up a 5-1 win in Game 1, and followed that up with a 10-2 victory in the finale.
 
GAME 1: PACE 5, STONEHILL 1
SCORING PLAYS
Top 1st – Stonehill
- Catcher Justin Nicklas knocked in the first run of the game with an RBI single that put the Skyhawks ahead early, 1-0.
 
Bottom 4th – Pace
- Senior first baseman 
Garrett De Lotto (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) singled to center with one away, and then junior left fielder 
Michael Gulino (Meriden, CT/Maloney) drew a walk.
- Senior designated hitter 
Domenick Luongo (Darien, CT/Cardinal Spellman) then smacked an RBI single to right to tie the game at 1-1.
- Senior right fielder 
Cory Capaldi (Telford, PA/Souderton) then hit a sacrifice fly to left, bringing in Gulino to put the Setters ahead, 2-1.
 
Bottom 6th – Pace
- Gulino doubled to left-center with one away, and then Luongo drew a walk to put two runners on.
- With two down, sophomore second baseman 
Michael Salmonese (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) singled through the left side, plating Gulino to take a 3-1 advantage.
- Senior catcher 
Frank Mayo (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) then roped a single up the middle, bringing in both Salmonese and senior 
James Wynne (North Salem, NY/North Salem) to give Pace a 5-1 lead.

Pitching Notes
- Senior starter 
Anthony Rocco (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) tossed 6+ innings, giving up just one run on five hits while striking out four batters.
 
GAME 1 SETTER STATS
- Salmonese hit 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
- Mayo went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI single.
- Gulino batted 1-for-1 with two runs, a double and two walks.
- De Lotto scored a run after going 1-for-3.

- Nicklas hit 1-for-3 with an RBI.
- Left fielder Ben Monte scored a run after going 1-for-3 with a double.

SCORING PLAYS
Bottom 2nd – Pace
- Wynne was hit by a pitch to lead off the second, and then stole second to get into scoring position.
- Junior shortstop 
Paul Piccolino (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) then singled through the left side to put runners on the corners.
- Sophomore catcher 
Michael Barbato (Sparkill, NY/Tappan Zee) followed with another single to bring in Wynne and make it an early 1-0 game.
- Senior center fielder 
John Kukura (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) then smashed a double to deep center to bring in Pace's second run.
- Salmonese followed with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Barbato to make it 3-0.
- De Lotto then added an RBI single to left, scoring Kukura to put Pace up by four.
- Gulino singled to put runners on the corners, and he then moved to second on a wild pitch.
- With one away, Capaldi slammed a triple to center, knocking in De Lotto and Gulino to put the Setters ahead, 6-0.
- Wynne then singled in his second at bat of the inning, scoring Capaldi to cap off a seven-run inning.
 
Bottom 3rd – Pace
- Barbato opened the third with a walk, and then moved to second on a wild pitch.
- Kukura followed with another walk, and then Barbato came in to score on an RBI single by Salmonese to make it 8-0.
- Kukura scored during the next at bat on a wild pitch, leaving Pace ahead, 9-0.
 
Top 5th – Stonehill
- With a runner on and two out, center fielder John Orzechowski hit an RBI triple to deep center to get Stonehill on the board.
- Third baseman William Kelleher then singled up the middle, bringing in Orzechowski to make it a 9-2 game.
 
Bottom 6th – Pace
- Sophomore 
Alex Pia (Guilford, CT/Xavier) led off with a pinch-hit single, and then Capaldi doubled to left-center to put two runners in scoring position.
- Piccolino grounded out to short, but it was enough to bring Pia home and make it a 10-2 ballgame.

Kyle Cashman (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) tossed five innings, allowing just two runs on three hits.

- Kukura hit 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.
- Capaldi batted 2-for-4 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
- De Lotto finished 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run.
- Wynne went 1-for-2 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base.
- Barbato scored twice and knocked in a run in a 1-for-3 effort.
