No. 11 Pace Women’s Lacrosse Falls to No. 10 New Haven

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The No. 11 Pace University women's lacrosse team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference matchup to No. 10 University of New Haven on Tuesday at Pace Stadium by a score of 17-10. All three of the Setters' losses this season have come against teams ranked in the Top 10.
 
FIRST HALF
- Junior Abby Haimson (Montville, NJ/Montville) scored 56 seconds into the game, and then sophomore Courtney Pabst (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport) followed just nine seconds later, giving Pace a quick 2-0 lead.
- Nicole Belanger got New Haven on the board at the 28:08 mark, but Haimson scored again 58 seconds later to make it 3-1.
- New Haven then swung the momentum in its favor, scoring 11 straight goals to take a 12-3 lead.
- Junior Casey Gelderman (Farmingville, NY/Sachem High School East) scored her 50th goal of the year at the 5:34 mark, and then Haimson scored with 54 seconds left to make it a seven-goal game.
- Gelderman added another with 17 seconds left, but New Haven got on the board last when Belanger netted one with 1.6 on the clock, sending the Chargers to the half with a 13-6 lead.
 
SECOND HALF
- Freshman Mary Kate Lonegan (Brewster, NY/Brewster) opened the second half with a free-position goal at the 25:05 mark to make it a 13-7 game.
- Junior Makayla McDermott (Greenlawn, NY/Elwood-John Glenn) got on the board nearly three minutes later, and then Gelderman picked up her third of the day to make it a four-goal game.
- New Haven responded by locking down on defense and slowing increasing its lead with four straight goals between 14:20 and 3:04.
- Freshman Johnna Leone (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) scored right in front of the net after a nice feed from Lonegan with 13 seconds left to make it 17-10.

Loss: Alissa Silvestri (Congers, NY/Clarkstown North) (10-3)
 
SETTER STATS
- Haimson totaled four points on three goals and an assist.
- Gelderman had a hat trick, and added three ground balls, three caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls.
- Lonegan and McDermott each totaled two points on a goal and an assist apiece.
- Pabst grabbed five draw controls and scored once.
- Junior Najmah James (Danbury, CT/Danbury) had three caused turnovers, a ground ball, a draw control and an assist.
 
CHARGER LEADERS
- Kendall Cietek had a big game for New Haven, totaling seven points on three goals and four assists. She also grabbed a game-high nine draw controls.
- Jessica Mazliah tallied five goals.
- Belanger netted four goals, and added three draw controls and two ground balls.
- Samantha Galler scored twice and added an assist for three points.

- The Setters take to the road on Saturday, April 22, to take on Franklin Pierce University in another NE10 matchup in Rindge, N.H. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
