SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After a back-and-forth first half, the No. 13 Pace University women's lacrosse team took over in the second half to claim an 11-6 victory over American International College (AIC) Wednesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action at Abdow Field. The Setters improve a program record with their sixth straight win, and move to a perfect 4-0 in NE10 play.
FIRST HALF
- Sophomore
Courtney Pabst (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport) and junior
Casey Gelderman (Farmingville, NY/Sachem High School East) scored back-to-back to give the Setters an early 2-0 lead.
- AIC got the next three, including two from Riley Brennan, to go ahead, 3-2.
- Junior
Abby Haimson (Montville, NJ/Montville) tied it up at 3-3, but Brennan scored again to put AIC on top, 4-3.
- Haimson quickly tied the game, but AIC's Brittany Hutchison gave the Yellow Jackets the lead once again.
- After five scoreless minutes, junior
Angela Kelly (Garnerville, NY/North Rockland) found the back of the net to tie things up at 5-5.
- Pabst then scored with 3:18 left in the half to give Pace the lead, and Gelderman put the Setters up by two with 31 seconds left, sending the game to the half with Pace ahead, 7-5.
SECOND HALF
- Gelderman opened the second half with another goal to put the Setters ahead by three.
- Pabst scored again with 19:18 on the clock, followed seven minutes later by junior
Emily Ankabrandt (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) to give the Setters a five-goal advantage.
- Jessica Lawler got one back for AIC with 11:21 remaining, but freshman
Mary Kate Lonegan (Brewster, NY/Brewster) added one with 6:39 to go to reach the final score of 11-6.

Alissa Silvestri (Congers, NY/Clarkstown North) stopped six shots to claim her sixth straight win.
- AIC netminder Alexis Torosian made a game-high 21 saves.
SETTER STATS
- Haimson scored twice and dished out three assists for a game-high five points.
- Pabst scored three times and assisted one more for four points. She also scooped up five ground balls and grabbed three draw controls.
- Gelderman finished with a hat trick, and tied junior
Najmah James (Danbury, CT/Danbury)' single-game program record with nine ground balls in the win. She also caused three turnovers and picked up four draw controls.
YELLOW JACKET LEADERS
- Brennan scored three times to lead the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday.
- Lawler scored once and assisted two other scores for three points. She also grabbed four draw controls.
- Torosian scooped up a team-high six ground balls.
HOW'D THEY STACK UP
- The Setters outshot the Yellow Jackets, 33-14, including a 32-12 difference in shots on goal.
- Pace completed 10-of-12 clear attempts, while AIC was successful on just 6-of-14.
- AIC held a slight edge in ground balls (23-22) and draw controls (10-9).
