How it Happened
The Blue and Gold controlled most of the action to begin the first half, building up an early 19-9 lead. Smith, Raysor and
Austin Gilbertson (Etters, PA/Trinity) each made three-balls in the strong start. Pace continued to stay aggressive as back-to-back baskets from Wejnert provided a 30-23 edge at the 7:44 mark.
Another three-pointer—this time from Jacobs—extended the advantage back up to 35-26. A quick 7-0 spurt from Felician, however, cut the lead to just two at 35-33. Pace stayed strong, ending the half on a 7-2 stretch to take a 44-37 edge into the break.
The Golden Falcons began the second half on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 44-44 at the 16:27 mark. Felician's hot shooting continued throughout the second 20, as three-consecutive three-pointers built up a 65-57 lead at the 9:46 mark. Pace responded nicely with a 9-1 run of their own, tying the game at 66-66 with six minutes left.
It was back and forth from there. A free throw from Smith at the 2:42 mark tied the contest back up at 72-72. After back-to-back free throws from Wejnert provided a 75-73 advantage, the Golden Falcons knocked in their 14
th three-pointer of the game to take their final lead at 76-75.
Following three empty possessions from Pace—and another free throw added for Felician—the Setters had one more chance, down two with four seconds remaining. After taking a timeout, a final jumper from Jacobs landed off the mark as the buzzer sounded.
Up Next
The Blue and Gold will jump back into NE10 action on Tuesday night with a trip to the College of Saint Rose. Pace and the Golden Knights are set for a 7:30 tip.
