PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Despite winning the shots battle by a 25-4 margin, the Pace University women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday night. The tie moves the Setters to 4-2-1 inside the Northeast-10 Conference this season.
Although the final score wasn't indicative of it, the Blue and Gold controlled a great portion of the action against the visitors. Pace put a season-high 10 shots on net, including a pair that ricocheted off the cross bar.
Over a 10-second span in the first half, senior
Ariel Almodovar (West Orange, NJ/West Orange) rocketed a shot off the high post while junior
Victoria Kealy (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) headed the rebound right back off the cross bar.
Kealy served as the aggressor all night long, notching 10 total shots—half of which went on target. SCSU goalkeeper Gabrielle Arruda, made a pair of tough saves off Kealy strikes in the first half.
On the other side, senior
Hayley Pascoal (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township) logged all 110 minutes in net for Pace, making three saves to preserve the clean sheet. Pascoal has allowed just one goal over her last five games.
