NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Freshman
Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) scored a career-high 21 points in the Pace University women's basketball team's 64-54 loss to Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference play Saturday afternoon at Hammel Court.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER
- Freshman Stephanie Svoboda opened up the game causing a turnover and, off of the steal, forced a Merrimack foul, connecting on both free throws for a quick 2-0 lead.
- Later in the first, senior
Christina Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic / Iona College) grabbed an offensive rebound that led to junior
Geena Rosalbo (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) getting an easy two in the paint, bringing the Setters within a point with 1:17 left in the frame.
- To close the period, Merrimack's My'Asia Alston knocked down a jumper to push Merrimack ahead, 19-14, heading into the second period.
2ND QUARTER
- Rubin drained a triple less than 30 seconds into the second quarter to cut into the Merrimack's lead.
- The Warriors answered the Setter three with two threes of their own, as well as a mid-range jump shot, extending their lead to 27-17 at the 7:25 mark.
- With six seconds remaining in the first half, DelliSanti drilled a jump shot to close out the scoring for the half with the Setters trailing, 40-29.
HALFTIME STATS
- DelliSanti led the Setters with nine points and added two rebounds.
- Merrimack's My'Asia Alston scored nine points and added four assists.
3RD QUARTER
- The Setters chipped away at Merrimack's double-digit lead, as DelliSanti made a jumper to bring Pace within eight at 42-34.
- The Warriors later brought their lead back out to double-digits, but DelliSanti scored the last two points of the third to get the Setters within eight heading into the final stanza.
4TH QUARTER
- DelliSanti continued her strong play into the start of the fourth quarter when she finished off the glass to get the Setters back within six points early in the final frame.
- Merrimack's Lexi Martin knocked down a jumper, but sophomore
Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) forced a foul and drained both shots from the charity stripe to make it a 48-42 game.
- Merrimack brought its lead back out to double-digits with 6:22 to play, and the Setters were unable to chip away at the lead, eventually falling by 10.
SETTER STATS
- DelliSanti led all scorers with her career-high 21 points and also added six rebounds, two steals and block.
- Dodge registered 10 points, tied a game-best eight rebounds and added two steals and two blocks on Saturday afternoon.
WARRIORS LEADERS
- Martin led the Warriors with 15 points and eight rebounds in the win.
- Alston scored 14 points and dished out a game-high six assists.
- Savannah Johnson played a well-rounded game with 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

- Pace: 8-8 (2-6 NE-10)
- Merrimack: 7-7 (5-4 NE-10)
WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters return home and welcome Saint Michael's College to the Goldstein Fitness Center on Tuesday, Jan. 10, for a 5:30 p.m. NE10 matchup.
