PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior
Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) posted her fourth double-double of the year in the Pace University women's basketball team's 57-47 loss to Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference play Tuesday evening at the Goldstein Fitness Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER
- The Purple Knights opened up with a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter, until Dodge scored three straight layups and sophomore
Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) added one more on a fast break to take a one-point lead with 3:11 remaining in the period.
- Freshman
Stefanie Svoboda (Ossining, NY/Ossining) split free throws to push the Setter lead to 9-7, but Saint Michael's Brianna Purcell answered back with one off the glass to tie the game
- Monteleone then made one of two free throws, but the Purple Knights scored seven straight before Dodge closed the first frame with a basket in the paint with three seconds remaining to leave the Purple Knights with a 16-12 lead heading into the second.
2ND QUARTER
- Junior
Geena Rosalbo (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) opened the second quarter with a fast-break layup after she forced a turnover to pull Pace back within two early on in the frame.
- With 3:10 mark Samantha Delaney finished inside to push the Saint Michael lead to 26-20. The Setters responded promptly scoring seven points to close out the first half, capped off with a three from Monteleone with 16 seconds left and the Setters went into halftime with a 27-26 advantage over the Purple Knights.
HALFTIME STATS
- Dodge and Monteleone led the Setters with 10 points each at the break.
- Saint Michael's Leah Spencer added 10 points for the Purple Knights in the first half.
3RD QUARTER
- After an early three by Spencer, the Setters regained the lead with a triple by sophomore
Chelsea Schultz (Commack, NY/Commack) at the 9:08 mark to make it a 30-29 game.
- Indira Evora connected on a three, but Dodge continued her strong play in the paint and tied the game, 32-32, with a layup with 7:54 remaining in the frame.
- An 11-3 run for the Purple Knights gave them a 43-35 lead with just 42 seconds left in the third.
- To end the third quarter, graduate student
Jaclyn Oskam (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central / Quinnipiac University) drained a deep ball with seven seconds to go, leaving Pace down 43-38 with 10 minutes to play.
4TH QUARTER
- Emily Ferreri got the Purple Knights on the board first in the fourth with a two, but Dodge scored in the post a little over twenty seconds later, and then Oskam knocked down a three to get the Setters within two at 45-43 with 8:45 to go in regulation.
- Oskam then scored in the paint and the Setters tied the game 45-45 at the 7:45 mark.
- Saint Michael's then went on a 12-2 run to close the quarter and the Setters fell to the Purple Knights by 10.
SETTER STATS
- Dodge led the Setters with 15 points and 10 boards to complete her double-double. She also added an assist..
- Oskam and Monteleone each scored 10 points and combined for another 10 rebounds.
- Rosalbo dished out a career-high seven assists in the game, and contributed six points and three steals.
PURPLE KNIGHTS LEADERS
- Samantha Delaney scored nine points and recorded a game-best 15 rebounds and four blocks.
- Spencer led the Purple Knights in scoring with 13 points and added another five boards
- Evora scored nine points, grabbed eight rebounds, added four steals and handed out two assists on the night.

WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters invite Stonehill College to the Goldstein Fitness Center on Saturday, Jan. 14, for a 1:30 p.m. NE10 matchup, as Pace basketball celebrates Camp Reunion and Youth Day.
- Children 12-years old and younger will be admitted free, and while supplies last will receive a Pace Athletics draw string bag, T-Bone sunglasses, a schedule poster, and are invited to participate in a post-game autograph session with the players.
