Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Pace Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 21 Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Pace University's women's basketball team dropped a tough contest to No. 21 Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference play Wednesday evening at the Dana Athletic Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER
- The Setters came flying out of the gate, opening the game with an 8-0 run.
- Graduate student Jaclyn Oskam (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central / Quinnipiac University) kicked things off with a three 90 seconds into the game, then senior Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) drew a foul and made both chances to take a quick five-point lead.
- Junior Geena Rosalbo (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) then banked a three at the 6:43 mark to put the Setters up by eight before the home team got on the board.
- The Falcons turned it around with a 12-point run to take a 12-8 lead at the 3:40 mark.
- Both teams traded baskets in the final minutes of the period, leaving the Falcons up, 18-14, heading into the second.
 
2ND QUARTER
- The Setters stayed within striking distance for much of the second frame, but an 8-0 run later in the quarter gave the Falcons a 33-19 edge with 3:19 to play until the half.
- The Setters chipped away a bit, but Bentley managed to claim a 35-23 lead heading into the locker room.
 
HALFTIME STATS
- Sophomore Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) led the Setters with eight points at the break.
- Bentley's Lauren Green led all scorers with 15 points after 20 minutes.
 
SECOND HALF
- The 21st-ranked Falcons kept the pressure on throughout the third quarter, pushing their lead to 17 points heading into the final period.
- Bentley edged out Pace in the fourth, 20-11.
 
SETTER STATS
- Monteleone finished up with a team-high 18 points and added six rebounds.
- Rosalbo tallied 12 points after making both tries from three-point range, also adding two assists and two steals.
 
FALCONS LEADERS
- Jen Gemma led all scorers with 22 points, and tied with Macchi Smith and Victoria Lux for a team-leading nine rebounds.
- Smith added nine points to her nine boards, and dished out a game-best seven assists.
 
RECORDS
- Pace: 9-10 (3-8 NE10)
- Bentley: 14-4 (10-1 NE10)
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters will welcome Assumption College to the Goldstein Fitness Center on Saturday, Jan. 21, for another NE10 contest. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
