Ribadeneyra’s Five Points Fuel Pace Soccer to Conquest of Palm Beach Atlantic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Junior Drew Ribadeneyra (Maybrook, NY/Valley Central) scored twice and assisted another for a five-point game, sending the Pace University women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) on Saturday on the final day of the PBA Kickoff Classic. Pace finishes the weekend with a perfect 2-0 record in the tournament.
 
JUST HOW SHE DREW IT UP
- Ribadeneyra picks up her second career five-point game, the last coming on Oct. 28, 2015, when she scored two goals and added an assist in a 3-0 victory over Concordia College.
- Ribadeneyra fed senior Ashley Kenny (Chester, NY/Washingtonville) with a free kick in the 32nd minute, allowing Kenny to redirect it into the left side of the net, tying the game at one goal apiece.
- Just over two minutes later, Ribadeneyra lined up for a penalty kick and was successful, putting Pace on top, 2-1.
- In the 61st minute, Ribadeneyra took another free kick, and sent it into the net untouched to give Pace the 3-1 advantage.
 
PACE LEADERS
- Ribadeneyra tallied five points with her first two goals of the year and an assist.
- Kenny scored her first goal of the season.
- Junior goalkeeper Aisha Chauhan (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) made seven saves to improve to 2-0.
- Senior Delany Williams (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) fired two shots on goal.
 
PBA LEADERS
- Kylee Rullo scored the Sailfish's only goal in the 19th minutes.
- Rullo led the team with five shots, three of which were on goal.
- Shannon Berg picked up an assist.
- Goalkeeper Alexis Sanquist falls to 1-1 after giving up three goals with three saves.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- PBA outshot Pace, 13-10, while also putting more shots on goal (8-7).
- PBA also earned three corner kicks, while Pace had just two.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters return to Pleasantville for their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 6 against Georgian Court University. The opening kickoff at Pace Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
- Pace then travels out to Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, Sept. 10 for its first Northeast-10 Conference contest of the year.
