Offense Rallies for Big Second Half as Pace Football Falls to New Haven

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University football team's offense showed new life coming out of the locker room for the second half of Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference matchup against the University of New Haven at Pace Stadium. The Setters netted 293 of their 346 yards in the second half, and all 21 points in Saturday's 48-21 loss to the Chargers.

SECOND-HALF SURGE
- Junior quarterback Faustino Saucedo (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) entered the game to start the second half and breathed new life into the Setters' offense.
- On the opening drive of the third quarter, Saucedo led Pace on a 12-play, 75 yard drive, resulting in a one-yard touchdown run for senior tailback Michael Scotman (White Plains, NY/White Plains) to get Pace on the board. Junior wide receiver Tyler Mason (Mohegan Lake, NY/Walter Panas) made a beautiful diving catch for 27 yards to get Pace down to the one-yard line.
- After a Charger field goal, the offense took the field again, and Saucedo worked his way down the field once again, leading a 10-play, 75-yard drive that culminated in a three-yard score for Scotman to make it a 41-14 game.
- Pace's third drive of the second half resulted in a punt, but the Setters took over again on their own 26-yard line with 9:16 left to play.
- The Setters needed just one play to get on the board again, as Saucedo tossed up a perfect pass down the near sideline to sophomore wideout Alex Toplyn (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI), who took it 74 yards to the house.
- Late in the fourth, the Setter defense forced a fumble on the goal line, and Saucedo quickly hooked up with Toplyn for 40 yards to get near midfield.
- Saucedo then hit sophomore WR Mohammad Masoud (Brooklyn, NY/Fort Hamilton) for 13 yards, followed by a 21-yard pass to freshman receiver Darius Jones (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) to keep the sticks moving.
- The Setters drove down to the Chargers' 42-yard line before an errant snap ended the Setters' final possession of the game.
