Pace Field Hockey Falls to No. 8 St. Anselm in Overtime Battle

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University field hockey team competed until the end, but could not pull out the upset victory over nationally-ranked No. 8 Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Peter X. Finnerty Field, falling in overtime by a score of 3-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Jenna Sanossian (Miller Place, NY/Rocky Point) put Pace in the lead in the 34th minute with her first goal of the season.
- St. Anselm's Allia Connolly scored right away in the second half to tie the game. This was followed 10 minutes later by Rose Mooney's first of the year, giving the Hawks a 2-1 advantage.
- Sophomore Halley Rose (Dauphin, PA/Central Dauphin) tied the game off a rebound in the 51st minute, which eventually forced the game into overtime.
- Connolly scored again for the Hawks, providing the overtime winner in the 73rd minute.
- St. Anselm outshot the Setters, 14-7, and were rewarded eight penalty corners in the game to Pace's three.
- After competitive play in regulation, both teams were tied 2-2 heading into overtime. St. Anselm scored a goal 2:37 into the extra frame after battling with the Setters for the 3-2 win.
 
PACE LEADERS
- Sophomores Jenna Sanossian (Miller Place, NY/Rocky Point) and Halley Rose (Dauphin, PA/Central Dauphin) each scored a goal for the Setters.
- Sophomore Samantha Gray (Greenlawn, NY/Harborfields) finished with an assist.
- Junior goalkeeper Lesly Sanchez Alvarez (Stamford, CT/Stamford) finished with three saves.
 
HAWKS STATS
- Allia Connolly finished with two goals, while teammate Rose Mooney also netted one.
- Emma Kincaid and Erin Collins each recorded an assist.
- Hawks goalie Katherine Sears stopped one shot.

- Pace: 2-2 (1-1)
- St. Anselm: 4-1 (1-0)
 
THE SETTERS HIT THE ROAD
- Pace will take to the road for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 20, when the Setters visit Saint Thomas Aquinas College. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m.
- Pace then continues its play on the road when it travels to Waltham, Mass. on Saturday, Sept. 24, to visit Bentley University at 1 p.m
