NEW CASTLE, Del. – The Pace University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the Wildcat Regional Invitational, hosted by Wilmington University (Del.). The Setters fell to Holy Family University in the day's opener, but turned it around to defeat Bloomfield College to close out the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Holy Family came out strong, hitting .310 in the opening set to take a 25-16 win.
- Despite a stronger game from the Setters, the Tigers managed to take the second frame, 25-22.
- The Setters outhit the Tigers for the second-straight set, but Holy Family once again took a 25-22 win to clinch the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sophomore
Claudia Fontanet (Bayamon, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina) led Pace with 10 kills, adding nine digs.
- Senior
Samantha Marquez (Palmetto Bay, FL/Miami Palmetto/Palm Beach State College) had a team-high 11 digs and also served up a pair of aces.
- Freshman
Samantha Nidini (Houston, TX/Clearlake) passed around 14 assists.
PACE 3, BLOOMFIELD 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Pace rallied late in the first set after falling behind 20-19 to grab a 25-23 win to open the match.
- Bloomfield had a strong second frame, scoring 13 of the final 19 points for a 25-18 win.
- A back-and-forth battle concluded when Pace won the final three points for a 25-20 victory to go up, 2-1, in the match.
- Bloomfield netted the first four points of the fourth set, but Pace fired back with eight of the next nine. Bloomfield made a five-point run late in the set to take a 24-23 advantage, but the Setters regrouped and scored the final three points to claim the match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sophomore
Kathleen Benson (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) had a huge match, leading the way with 15 kills (.565 hitting percentage) and six total blocks.
- Fontanet was close behind with 14 kills, and added 10 digs.
- Nidini dished out an impressive 40 assists as well as six digs
- Freshman
Danielle Vaiano (Seaford, NY/St. Anthony's) picked up a match-best 20 digs.

UP NEXT
- The Setters will play in their first non-tournament match of the season in a road contest at nearby Nyack College on Tuesday, Sept. 13. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
- Pace will play its home opener on Friday, Sept. 16, when they host Mercy College at the Goldstein Fitness Center.
- The Setters play again at home on Saturday, Sept. 17, when West Chester University comes to Pleasantville for a 12 p.m. match.
