Pace Football Drops Home Opener to Defending NE-10 Champion No. 18 Assumption

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University football team took on No. 18-ranked and defending Northeast-10 Conference champion Assumption College in the Setters' home and NE-10 opener at Pace Stadium in front of a record crowd of 1,615 fans. The Greyhounds came away with a 59-16 win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Assumption jumped out to an early lead and eventually took a 38-0 advantage in the third.
- Freshman Pat Davis (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) made his first career field goal from 31 yards out to get Pace on the board in the third quarter.
- In the fourth, Jhalen Bien-Aime (Dorchester, MA/Bridgton Academy) took one of his three carries 60 yards to the house.
- Later in the final quarter, Delaney Wallace (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) managed to punch one in from a yard out after diving over the pylon.
 
PACE STATISTICS
- Bien-Aime led the way with 67 yards on just three totes, including his 60-yard scamper for pay dirt.
- Wallace added 58 yards on the ground and another score. He also caught two passes for 27 more yards.
- Michael Scotman (White Plains, NY/White Plains) carried the rock 12 times for 49 yards. He also grabbed a 12-yard catch.
- Tyler Deneau (Malverne, NY/Holy Cross) led the Setters with eight tackles, including a half-tackle for loss.
- Matthew Corrie (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) added six tackles and a forced fumble which trickled through the end zone for a touchback.
 
ASSUMPTION
- Quarterback Marc Monks went 18-of-25 for 309 yards and two scores.
- Running back Alex Shain led the Greyhounds with 70 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
- Deonte Harris produced 141 yards from scrimmage, including an 88-yard catch and run for a touchdown. He also scored another touchdown on the ground.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters take to the road to challenge American International College in another Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 12 p.m.
