Cory Capaldi (Telford, PA/Souderton) hit 3-for-4 on Friday, but the Pace University baseball team was unable to pick up the win, falling to Dominican College in a non-conference matchup at Peter X. Finnerty Field by a score of 11-3. The Setters fall to 4-6 on the year with the loss, while Dominican jumps to 4-3.
Capaldi's three hits lead to a pair of RBIs and a run scored. He improved his batting average to .317 on the year and now shares the team lead of 13 RBIs with junior center fielder

Dominican got on the board first in the top of the second with a pair of runs. The Chargers then rallied for six more in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead. Sophomore first baseman
Matthew Kurdewan (Neptune, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) smoked a double down the left-field line, scoring Capaldi in the bottom of the fourth to get the Setters on the board.
Now trailing 9-1, Capaldi chipped away at the deficit with a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth. That was the end of the scoring for Pace, as they went on to drop an 11-3 decision.
Franklin Miller picked up the win for Dominican to move to 1-1. He tossed 5.1 innings and gave up three runs. Nick Bird went 3.2 innings in relief to get the save for the Chargers. Senior starter
Mike Sweeney (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) shouldered the loss to fall to 0-2 on the year.

Andrew Coffey (Greenwich, CT/Old Avon Farms) each went 1-for-3 in the game. Freshman catcher
Michael Barbato (Sparkill, NY/Tappan Zee) singled in his first-ever at bat in a pinch-hit opportunity in the eighth.
Shortstop Joseph Libio knocked in four runs, including a three-run homer, to lead the Chargers. Right fielder Anthony Bartolomei hit 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.
The Setters will look to win the series when they host Dominican for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 12. The first game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start and is set for nine innings, while game two is slated for 3 p.m. and will be a seven-inning affair.
