Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Pace University men's basketball team closed out the Boca Raton Holiday Classic, hosted by Lynn University, with a non-conference matchup against Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) on Saturday. The Setters fell to the Sailfish, 93-81, in Saturday's tournament finale for Pace.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
- PBA jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first couple minutes, and extended it to nine points at 28-19 at the 10:44 mark.
- The Setters then made a nine-point run, capped off with a jumper by sophomore
Ryan Peterson (Wethersfield, CT/St. Thomas More) at the 8:06 mark, tying the game at 28-28.
- The Sailfish then went on a 7-0 stretch to take a 35-28 lead.
- Pace got as close as three points the rest of the frame, but went into the half trailing 45-37.
HALFTIME LEADERS
- Peterson led the Setters with 11 points at the break.
- Senior
Austin Mofunanya (Englewood, NJ/Dwight Morrow / Lincoln College of NE) did not score in the opening half, but he pulled down a game-high seven rebounds and also dished out three assists.
- Graduate student
Christian White (Rochester, NY/Aquinas Institute / Syracuse University) handed out five helpers in the first 20 minutes.
- PBA was led by Malek Barber, who scored a half-best 13 points.
SECOND HALF
- The Sailfish extended their lead to nine points at 51-42 with 16:06 on the clock.
- The Setters battled back into it, scoring eight of the next 10 points to get within three at 53-50 with 13:54 to play.
- PBA turned things around and scored the next eight points to take a 61-50 lead.
- The Sailfish lead remained in double-digits throughout the remainder of the game, as PBA claimed a 12-point victory.
SETTER STATS
- Freshman
Peyton Wejnert (Point Pleasant, NJ/Southern Regional) led the Setters with 21 points and pulled down six rebounds.
- Peterson finished with 19 points and six boards as well.
- Mofunanya added nine points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
- Freshman
Ray Montilus (Union, NJ/Pope John XXII) tallied a career-high 18 points, while White passed out eight assists.
SAILFISH LEADERS
- Barber closed the game with a game-high 22 points.
- Lucas Morales added 20 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.

- Pace: 4-9
- Palm Beach Atlantic: 6-5
UP NEXT
- The Setters take two weeks off before heading down to Caldwell University for a non-conference matchup on Friday, Dec. 30. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
