PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore
Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) scored a career-high 20 points on Tuesday, but the Pace University women's basketball team dropped a close game against the College of Saint Rose by a score of 68-63 in a Northeast-10 Conference contest at the Goldstein Fitness Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST QUARTER
- Monteleone got Pace on the board with a three after Saint Rose scored the first four points of the game.
- A little over halfway through the first, senior
Aurellia Cammock (Brooklyn, NY/South Shore / Iona College) laid one off the glass to give the Setters their first lead of the night by a score of 7-6.
- With 29 seconds remaining in the quarter, Saint Rose's Karissa Birthwright knocked down 1-of-2 free throws, but the Setters held a 14-13 lead heading into the second frame.
2ND QUARTER
- The Golden Knights took the lead at the 5:38 mark when Ashley Vanderwall drained a triple for a 21-18 advantage over the Setters.
- Cammock finished in the paint to bring Pace within one, but the Golden Knights scored five straight points to push the Saint Rose lead to 26-20.
- The Setters did not give in as they fought back and cut the deficit to 28-26 after a strong post move by senior
Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey).
- To close the first half, Vanderwall connected on a deep ball, sending the visitors to the locker room with a 31-26 advantage over the Setters.
HALFTIME STATS
- Monteleone led the Setters at the half with nine points, and added a rebound.
- Vanderwall went to the locker room with eight points and two steals to lead Saint Rose.
3RD QUARTER
- Saint Rose led by as many as 11 points in the third with a little more than seven minutes left in the period, but the Setters were determined and brought it within three at the 1:29 mark at 45-42.
- Monteleone connected on two shots from the charity stripe for the last points in the third quarter, and the Setters headed into the final frame trailing just 50-45.
4TH QUARTER
- Dodge drained two shots from the line and brought the Setters within three at 55-52 with 7:25 minutes remaining in the fourth.
-The Golden Knights stretched their lead out to as many as seven points, but the Setters played hard throughout the game and chipped away at the Saint Rose lead, bringing themselves within two after freshman
Jackie DelliSanti (Commack, NY/Commack) knocked down a mid-range with 3:39 to play.
- Saint Rose outscored the Setters, 7-4, in the final minutes of the game for a five-point victory.
SETTER STATS
- Cammock finished with 17 points and added a game-best seven rebounds.
- Rubin tallied eight points, four rebounds and three assists on the evening.
- Dodge blocked two shots and grabbed four caroms.
GOLDEN KNIGHTS LEADERS
- Staci Barrett finished with 20 points and six boards to lead the Golden Knights.
- Vanderwall registered 12 points, two rebounds and two steals.
- Taylor Nazon recorded 10 points, three rebounds and three assists in the Saint rose win.

WHAT'S NEXT?
- The Setters host non-conference foe Post University at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Saturday, Nov. 26, for a 3 p.m. tip off.
- Pace then welcomes American International College for a home Northeast-10 Conference matchup to be played at the Civic Center Gym on the Pace NYC campus on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
