PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – A second half run by No. 22-ranked LIU Post was the difference in Wednesday evening's non-conference matchup, as the Pace University soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Pioneers in the Setters' final regular-season home game at Pace Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game went to the half scoreless, with just two shots on goal, both taken by the Setters.
- In the 53rd minute, LIU Post's Julia Backman headed a corner kick toward the net, where Klara Berggren was set up to flip one over the keeper and into the net to put the Pioneers up, 1-0.
- LIU Post's Alex Lynn made it 2-0 for the Pioneers after receiving a deep pass from midfield by Julia Duffy, giving her a breakaway toward the net, where she shot to the top-right corner for the goal.
PACE LEADERS
- Seniors
Delany Williams (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) and
Alyssa Zeoli (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay East Fishkill) both attempted three shots and put two on goal apiece.
- Sophomore
Victoria Kealy (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) also tried three shots, putting one on net.
LIU POST
- Berggren and Lynn scored the two goals for LIU Post in the second half of the game.
- Backman and Duffy picked up the assists on the Pioneers' scores.
- Goalkeeper Hillevi Eklow improved to 12-2-2 with five saves in the game.
