Pace Field Hockey Comes out on Top on the Road at SCSU

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Pace University field hockey team came out on top by a score of 3-2 in a Northeast-10 Conference road contest at Southern Connecticut State University Tuesday evening at Jess Dow Field. With the win, the Setters clinch their first-ever .500-or-better season as a varsity program.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Owls put up the first goal of the game off a penalty corner in the 13th minute of the game when Bailey McGinnis scored off assists from Zoe Fanolis and Alicia Morgan.
- A little over five minutes later, the Setters put themselves on the board with a goal scored by sophomore Halley Rose (Dauphin, PA/Central Dauphin) off an assist from freshman Rachel Beam (Red Hook, NY/Stissing Mountain).
- Sophomore Carly Corbett (Brewster, NY/Brewster) assisted fellow sophomore Katrina Mikitish (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) for a late first half goal on a shot from the right side of the circle to give Pace a one-score advantage heading into halftime.
- Corbett then blasted in her own goal in the 38th minute of the game off a rebound at the right of the cage to push the Setters' lead to 3-1.
- SCSU scored the last goal of the game in the 59th minute, but it was not enough as the Setters were able to hold the Owls off the board the rest of the way.
