Pace Field Hockey Honors Senior Before Season Finale Loss to No. 5 Stonehill

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University field hockey team honored their lone senior Brittany Predmore (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Township) Saturday afternoon before their Northeast-10 Conference matchup against No. 5 Stonehill College in their last game of the season at Peter X. Finnerty Field. The Setters strung together a late rally, but fell just short in a 3-2 final.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Skyhawks scored the only goal of the first half in the 19th minute when Shea Healy scored off assists from Kacie Smith and Alexandra Dillon from a penalty corner to take a 1-0 lead.
- A little over six minutes into the second half, Stonehill's Smith put in another goal from the left side of the circle to double the lead.
- In the 49th minute of the game, Healy netted her second of the day off an assist from Alexandria Sylvia to give Stonehill a three-score advantage.
- Keeping the Setters in the game, freshman Louisa Wegener (Hamburg, Germany/Wilhelm Gymnasium) blasted in her first goal of the season off assists from sophomores Katrina Mikitish (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area) and Rachel Platko (Hanover Township, PA/Holy Redeemer) off a penalty corner in the 54th minute to get the Setters on the board.
- In front of the cage, sophomore Halley Rose (Dauphin, PA/Central Dauphin) snuck in the Setters' second goal off a feed from sophomore Jane Kasparian (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) to bring Pace within one with under six minutes to play.
- The Setters continued to play aggressively as they were rewarded two penalty corners in the final minutes. Sophomore Paige Predmore (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Township) attempted a shot on goal in the last five minutes of the game, but her shot was saved and the Setters were unable to hit the back of the cage, falling to the nationally-ranked Skyhawks by one.

PACE LEADERS

- Platko and Mikitish each tallied an assist as well.
- Predmore and Rose each took three shots, putting all on target.
- Junior goalkeeper Lesly Sanchez Alvarez (Stamford, CT/Stamford) finished with seven saves, but falls to 9-9 to finish the year. She makes a three-win improvement from her 2015 season.

YEAR TWO IN THE BOOKS
- Saturday's contest marked the end of the 2016 season for the Setters, just their second year as a varsity program.
- Pace finishes three-games better than 2015 with a 9-9 record, as well as two-wins better in Northeast-10 Conference play with five in 2016.
- The Setters will graduate their first senior after the 2016 campaign in Brittany Predmore (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Township), but will return a large, experienced core to the team in the 2017 season.
