Dodge Scores Career-High, but Pace Women’s Basketball Falls to SNHU

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) scored a career-high for the Pace University women's basketball team on Saturday, but the Setters dropped a tough matchup at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), 58-46, in Northeast-10 Conference action at the SNHU Fieldhouse. The Setters fall to 10-12 overall, and 5-9 in NE-10 contests, while the Penmen improve to 12-8 on the year and 6-8 in conference play.

Dodge scored a personal-best 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to register her fifth double-double on the season. Dodge recorded her previous career-best of 19 earlier this season against the College of Saint Rose on Nov. 24, 2015. This was her seventh game this season pulling down 10 or more rebounds.

The Setters fell behind early on in the first quarter by a score of 7-4 at the 6:47 mark. The Penmen went on to take a 21-12 advantage heading into the second. Pace started the second period with a layup by Dodge at the 8:28 mark, but the Penmen took control and went into halftime with a 31-21 lead.

At the 5:32 of the third quarter, sophomore Gabriella Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) drained two free throws and the Setters cut the Penmen lead to 33-26. SNHU went on an 11-7 run for the remainder of the frame to take a 47-33 edge into the fourth. The Setters outscored the Penmen in the fourth quarter, 13-11, but it was not enough as Pace fell, 58-46.

Dodge added two blocks to her double-double. Rubin tallied 12 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals, while senior Yuni Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Long Island Lutheran) finished with eight points and seven boards.

SNHU's Erin Doherty recorded 13 points and four rebounds on Saturday. Catherine Stinson also registered 13 points and three assists.

The Setters return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 3, when they host Adelphi University for an NE-10 matchup at the Civic Center Gym on the Pace New York City campus. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
