WORCESTER, Mass. – The Pace University football team rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown, as the Setters fell to Assumption College, 61-9, in a Northeast-10 matchup on Saturday at Assumption's Multi-Sport Stadium. The Setters move to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play this season, while the Greyhounds jump to 3-1 and 2-1 against the NE-10.
Freshman
Jeff Towle (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) ran for his first-career touchdown early on in the fourth quarter after punching it in from the one-yard line. He totaled 43 yards on seven attempts in Saturday's contest, with a long-run of 28 yards. Junior tailback
Michael Scotman (White Plains, NY/White Plains) led the Setters with 66 yards on 11 carries.
The Setters' defense got them on the board with their first points late in the first quarter. Freshman punter
Nick Fountis (Bellport, NY/Bellport) blasted a 50-yard punt to down to the Greyhounds on their own five-yard line. A false start penalty backed Assumption up to the two, and then freshman
Joe Sullivan (Utica, NY/Nortre Dame) and redshirt sophomore
Matthew Corrie (South Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) broke into the backfield on third down, taking down Greyhound quarterback Brendan Tobey in the end zone for a safety.
The Greyhounds scored seven of their eight touchdowns on the ground in the winning effort. Alex Shain reached the end zone three times in an 87-yard outing, while Dylan Oxsen and Brendan Tobey each broke the plane twice.

The Setters return home on Friday, Oct. 2, to take on Bentley University at 7 p.m. in the first-ever night game at Pace Stadium. The game will feature "Take-A-Kid to the Game," and there will be a free Youth Clinic prior to the contest. The Youth Clinic will run from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Finnerty Field. All Youth Clinic participants will receive free admission to the game. This will also be the annual "Pace Goes Pink" game, where the first 300 fans will receive "Pace Goes Pink" wristbands. "Pace Goes Pink" t-shirts will also be sold with proceeds donated to the Northern Westchester Hospital Breast Institute.
