Pace University Athletics Names David Spiegel Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Communications

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University Associate Athletics Director for External Operations Drew Brown has announced the hiring of David Spiegel as the Assistant Athletics Director for Athletic Communications effective immediately. Spiegel comes to Pace from Mount Saint Mary College, where he served as the Sports Information Director since September 2013.

"I am incredibly proud and humbled to have this opportunity at Pace University," said Spiegel. "I am excited to begin working with the staff, coaches and student-athletes, and to be a part of the growth and improvement of the department."

In his role with the Setters, Spiegel will work with the coaches and staff to support, promote and communicate the achievements of the University's nearly 500 student-athletes and its 14 NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics programs. He will engage in both traditional communication approaches, as well as develop new and innovative approaches to the promotion of the University's athletics programs.

Spiegel is also responsible for all aspects of media relations for the Athletics Department, as well as social media, live in-game statistics, web streaming and other game day communications and operations activities. He will also supervise communications staff, produce press releases and feature stories, produce video content and supervise the collection and dissemination of official NCAA and conference statistics.

At Mount Saint Mary College Spiegel was charged with promoting 21 athletics programs, providing in-game statistical coverage for all home events, writing post-game press releases and feature stories, designing all department productions and preparing Hall of Fame and Athletic Award events.

Spiegel was also responsible for maintaining and updating MSMCKnights.com, and coordinated a complete redesign of the official Mount Saint Mary Athletics website. He also ran the first-ever Skyline Conference Fall Festival in November 2013, as well as multiple Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and Skyline Conference Championship events.

Prior to Mount Saint Mary, Spiegel was employed by his alma mater, SUNY New Paltz, serving as the Assistant Sports Information Director after serving as an intern in the Sports Information Office as an undergraduate student.

Spiegel is an active member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

He graduated from New Paltz with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a concentration in public relations. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland in May 2015. Spiegel is a native of New City, N.Y.
