Shelby Yung and
Jeane Drury both hit solo homeruns in the nightcap but the Pace Softball team dropped a doubleheader to LIU Post. The Setters fell in extra innings in the opener 1-0 and lost the nightcap 6-3. The Setters fall to 17-12, while the Pioneers improve to 23-7.

In the opener, the Setters were limited to three hits in the game. Starter
Jaclyn Flores was matched the opposing LIU Post pitcher with 0's through seven innings. Flores (4-3) struck out four and scatter six hits but allowed a lead-off homerun in the bottom of the eight as the Pioneers took the opener.

In the nightcap, the Setters jumped out ahead as a first inning homerun by Drury and a solo shot by Yung in the third gave Pace a 2-0 lead. For Drury, it was her 20th career homerun, moving her into a three way tie for second all-time with teammate
Hana Wright and alum
Lauren Bell (2009-12). Drury and Wright trail the all-time record of 22 set by alum
Angela Locsin (2002-05).

The teams traded runs in the third, fourth and fifth with Pace adding a run with two outs in the fourth. Three straight singles by Wright,
Natalie Gellos and
Amanda Limon plated the third run of the game for Pace. The Pioneers got a run back in the bottom of the inning but the Setters answered in the top of the fifth.
Larissa Labs doubles and scored as
Kelly Whritenour reached on an error to score Labs. LIU Post scored in their half of the fifth as they trailed 4-3. The Pioneers took the lead as they scored times in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead.

On the hill,
Caitlin McCann tossed five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, while striking out five.
Kaitlynn Nelson tossed the final inning, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out one to fall to 6-4.

Pace travels to Springfield, MA this weekend as they take on American International in a three-game weekend series. The Setters and the Yellow Jackets will play a NE-10 SW Division doubleheader on Saturday and single game on Sunday. First pitch on both days will be noon.
