CLERMONT, FL- The Setters picked up two more wins in 2015 as they defeated Sioux Falls 6-5 in eight innings and Minnesota Duluth 2-0 on the final day of the Florida trip. Pace improves to 8-2 on the season, while Sioux Falls drops to 12-3 and Minnesota Duluth falls to 14-7.
Pace's 8-2 start is their best start since 2012 when they opened that season at 11-1.

In the opener, the first three runners reached base on three straight singles as
Shelby Yung,
Larissa Labs and
Jeane Drury loaded the bases for the Setters.
Natalie Gellos drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single. Sioux Falls took the lead in the top of the second with a pair of runs.

The Setters answered in the bottom of the inning as Yung and Labs went back-to-back on doubles to tie the game at 2-2. Drury singled to put runners at first and third with two outs. Gellos reached on an error to score Labs to put Pace back in the lead at 3-2. Â

Sioux Falls tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the fourth but the Setters answered again in the bottom of the inning. Yung drew a lead-off walk and scored on a double by Labs. Drury singled in Labs to put Pace back in the lead at 5-3. Sioux Falls battled back to tie the score at five with a pair of runs in the fifth to force extra innings.

Sioux Falls loaded the bases in the top of the eighth but reliever
Kaitlynn Nelson closed the door as she struck out the side to keep the score even. The Setters also loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning but Drury came through with the clutch base hit to score
Victoria Quinones with the winning run.

In the opener, Labs went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored, while Drury went 4-for-5 with two RBI. Yung went 2-for-3 with three runs scored. On the hill,
Jaclyn Flores started, going 6 2/3 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits, while striking out one. Nelson (2-1) got the win in relief, as the finished the final 1 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and struck out three.

In the second game win over Minnesota Duluth, the Setters again struck first with a pair of runs in the opening inning. Yung was at catalyst once again as she led off the first inning with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch. Drury walked and stole second to put runners at second and third. Gellos singled to score Yung for the first run of the game. Pace loaded the bases as
Surina Sandhu walked but
Ashley Lew drove in the second run with a ground out.

Caitlin McCann needed as she turned in a complete game two-hit effort, while striking out three to improve to 3-1 on the season McCann retired 12 batters in a row from the first inning into the fifth inning and did not allow a runner to reach scoring position. Yung went 2-for-3 in the game, while Gellos was 3-for-3 with Drury going 1-for-3 to account for Pace's six hits in the contest.
