Hackett Drops 19 as Setters Earn Win over Georgian Court

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Margo Hackett scored a team-best 19 points in the Setter's victory over Georgian Court and climbed into fourth place all-time with 162 career three pointers. Following the win, Pace advanced to 11-11, 5-9 NE-10 while Georgian Court dropped to 2-18, 2-11 CACC.

The Lions scored the first bucket of the game but the Setters responded with back-to-back baskets by Geena Rosalbo and Hackett to claim a 5-2 lead. Now leading by just one point with 14:38 remaining, Rosalbo this time knocked in a pair of free throws to spark a 7-0 rally that was capped off by a Jaclyn Oskam triple. One minute later, freshman Gabriella Rubin rattled home a three to pull the Pace lead to 19-11. With 8:55 remaining in the half, junior Rachel Dortch went on a tear, scoring five straight points behind a jumper and an and-one to stretch the lead to double digits. Down the stretch, Oskam added another shot from deep and the Setters took a nine-point lead into the locker room.

The Setters offense struck early and often in the second half as Yuni Sher connected on a layup on Pace's opening possession. Minutes later, following a Rosalbo basket, Hackett drilled her first three-pointer of the game to tie Brittany Huggins with 160 career triples. On the very next Setter possession, she connected from deep again, this time to pass Huggins and take sole possession of fourth on the all-time three pointer list. Later, leading by 12, Rubin connected from behind the arc to begin a 10-2 rally that she later capped off with another three. Leading by 19 with 6:22 remaining, Oskam converted threes on back-to-back possessions for the Setters to increase the advantage to 23 points. Oskam and Hackett combined to shoot 4-4 from the charity stripe in the final 1:10 of play and the Setters defeated the Lions, 83-63.

Hackett led all Setters with 19 points behind 7-17 shooting with three assists and a pair of rebounds. Oskam was close behind with 18 points behind 4-8 shooting from distance with seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sophomore Kirsten Dodge shattered her career-high with seven rejections, adding four steals and a pair of assists. Rubin scored 13 points with four steals and a pair of assists.

The Setters return to the hardwood on Saturday, February 7th when they travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on NE-10 rival American International.
