Pearson Nets 23 Points in Loss to New Haven

Box Score WEST HAVEN, CT- Kyle Pearson tallied 23 points but the Setters fell to New Haven Chargers 64-49 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
 
The Setters fall to 5-20 overall and 1-16 in the NE-10, while the Chargers improve to 14-9 and 9-9
 
The teams traded leads early on but a Bryan Rivers triple at the 12:31 mark put the Setters ahead 8-7. The Chargers netted the next 12 points to pull ahead 19-8 three minutes later. The Setters battled back to within six points after a Jaylen Mann trifecta at the 1:28 mark but New Haven scored the last four points to lead 36-26 at the break.
 
The Chargers extended their lead at 13 points early in the second half but the Setters sliced into the lead, closing to within seven points. Pearson connected from downtown twice, while Shelton Mickell hit a pair at the line to pull Pace to within 48-41 with 8:59 left in the game. New Haven pushed it back to double digits and held off the Setters down the stretch.
 
For Pace, Pearson shined in the loss, totaling 23 points and four rebounds, while shooting 5-for-9 from long range. Mickell chipped in eight points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals, while Rivers finished with nine points.
 
The Setters return home on Wednesday, February 18 when they take on Southern Connecticut State Owls in an NE-10 match-up at the Goldstein Fitness Center at 7:30 pm
