PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University Women's Basketball squad outscored the visiting Le Moyne College Dolphins 18-9 in the fourth quarter to power the Setters to a 60-55 win in their Northeast-10 opener. Senior
Yuni Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Long Island Lutheran) led the way with five points in the final stanza to help the Setters come back from a six-point deficit. Pace improves to 3-0, 1-0 in NE-10 play while the Dolphins fall to 1-3, 0-2 in conference play.
Le Moyne scored the opening bucket, but it was followed by a nine-point flurry from the Setters. Senior
Jaclyn Oskam (Glenmont, NY/Bethlehem Central / Quinnipiac University) kicked off the scoring with a triple that was followed by a pair of Sher baskets. Senior
Rachel Dortch (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) capped off the rally with a layup at the 5:22 mark. Junior
Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) concluded the scoring in the first as she banked in a layup in the final seconds of the opening frame.
A Dolphin rally saw Le Moyne claim a nine-point advantage early in the second period, however Pace once again responded with nine straight points to cut the lead to just a pair. Oskam and junior
Christina Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic / Iona College) each connected from downtown while Dodge converted a pair from the charity stripe.
Christina Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic / Iona College) added five points down the stretched behind a triple and a midrange jumper, forcing action to 32-29 at the break.
The Setters shot 45% (10-22) from the field and 55% (5-9) from distance in the opening half.

Shanice Maynard (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson / Coppin State) and Dodge each added four points with Maynard grabbing three boards as well.
Sophomore
Gabriella Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) knotted the score just 32 seconds into the third period when she hit a trey on an assist by Sher. The third quarter saw both teams trade buckets often, but the Dolphins were able to go on a run and climb ahead by seven with 3:48 left in the frame. Dodge added four points in the final three minutes of the third, while
Christina Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic / Iona College) converted three free throws to cut the Le Moyne lead to 46-42 heading into the fourth.
Freshman
Alexandra Monteleone (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) put her stamp on the game early in the final quarter. She connected on a triple just 46 seconds into the period to pull the Setters within three. Two minutes later with Pace still trailing by three, Maynard drained a clutch layup, with the foul, and converted the free throw for a game-tying and-one.
Le Moyne climbed up by one with a free throw at the 4:48 mark, but Sher answered with a layup that put the Setters back on top. The Dolphins again climbed ahead behind a Vandell Andrade layup, but Pace responded with four points to claim a 56-53 advantage. Sher added three free throws late in the game before
Gabriella Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) shut the door with a free throw that saw the Setters grab a five-point lead with just six seconds remaining.
Christina Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic / Iona College) ended the game with a team-high 11 points while Maynard added 10 points, four rebounds, and a block. Sher finished the game with 10 points as well, adding seven rebounds, three assists, and a block. Oskam and Dodge each totaled eight points with Dodge adding five rebounds and two blocks.
Gabriella Rubin (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) ended with four points, two rebounds and two blocks while sophomore
Geena Rosalbo (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) scored four points, adding team-highs in both assists with five, and steals with three.
Pace returns to the hardwood on Tuesday, Nov. 24
th when they travel to Albany, N.Y. for an NE-10 showdown against the College of Saint Rose.
