Yuni Sher totaled 17 points but the Pace women's basketball team came up short to the Bentley Falcons 68-57 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
The Setters fall to 10-11 overall and 5-9 in the NE-10, while the Falcons improve to 8-12 and 3-11 in conference play.
The first half featured seven lead changes and one tie as the Falcons held a three-point lead at the break. Bentley tied the game at 13 but the Setters scored the next six points with Sher netting four at the midway point of the half. Bentley answered to pull ahead 24-21 at the 4:27 mark but the Setters retook at one point lead with just over two minutes to play. Bentley scored the final four points of the half to lead 30-27.
The Falcons scored the first 10 points to start the second half as they extended their lead to 40-27 with 16:28 left in the game. The Setters battled back, using a 16-4 to close the gap to one point.
Margo Hackett netted four points, while
Jaclyn Oskam added a triple with a pair of free throws to lead Pace in the run.
The Setters trailed by one point at three different points with the final time coming at the 6:25 mark after a lay-up by
Alexa Dietrich. Bentley extended their lead to nine with three minutes to play but the Setters were able to close the gap to five points at 61-56 following a Hackett trifecta with 1:37 remaining in the game. The Falcons kept the Setters at bay as they connected on five free throws in the final minute of the game.
For the Setters, Sher led the way with 17 points and nine boards along with two blocks, while Oskam added 10 point and seven rebounds. Hackett tallied 10 points, six boards and three assists, while Dietrich added 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting.
The Setters host Georgian Court in a non-conference game on Wednesday, February 4 at 7 pm.
