Margo Hackett recorded her third double-double of the season after netting 15 points with ten rebounds to help the Setters defeat the Assumption Greyhounds, 74-45. With the victory, Pace advances to 10-10, 5-8 NE-10 while Assumption falls to 11-7, 6-7 NE-10.
The Setters began the game on a tear, jumping out to an 8-0 lead behind two Hackett triples. After Assumption fought back to make it 12-6 Pace,
Yuni Sher splashed a jumper that was followed by another Hackett shot from deep to pull the Setters up by double digits. Now leading by eight points with 9:19 to play in the half, sophomore
Kirsten Dodge connected on back-to-back baskets to spark a 14-3 rally in which she recorded six points. Pace closed out the first half with consecutive buckets by
Alexa Dietrich to stretch the halftime lead to 19.
The Pace offense was unstoppable in the first half as they shot 65% (13-20) from the field and 66.7% (4-6) from downtown.
After the Greyhounds clawed back to within 16 early in the second half, Sher knocked in four straight points on a pair of free throws and a layup to stretch it to 20. Assumption added a pair of three-pointers in the next two minutes, but senior
Jaclyn Oskam answered with a jump shot that was followed by five straight Dodge points to give the Setters a 7-0 run. With 7:06 remaining in the game, following another Sher bucket, freshman
Gabriella Rubin connected on a layup with a foul, and knocked down the free throw for the and-one. The Setters were perfect from the charity stripe down the stretch as Oskam, Dietrich, and
Brianna Harris combined for a perfect 6-6 to help Pace earn a 74-45 victory over the Greyhounds.
Hackett added four assists and a steal to her team-best 15 points and ten rebounds. Dodge chipped in 13 points with eight boards while freshman
Geena Rosalbo scored 12 points with four steals and two assists. Oskam ended her day with six points, six rebounds and two assists. G. Rubin totaled seven points with five rebounds.
Pace returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Waltham, Mass. to take on Bentley in Northeast-10 action.
