Pearson Totals 19 Points in Loss to Assumption

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Kyle Pearson led the Setters with 19 points but the Pace men's basketball team fell to the Assumption Greyhounds 65-54 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
 
The Setters fall to 5-16 overall and 1-12 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds improve to 8-10 and 5-8 in conference play.
 
The teams traded leads at the start of the game with a Pearson triple at the 14:27 mark, giving the Setters a 12-9 lead. Assumptuon answered with six unanswered points to go up by three. The Setters battled back to tie it at 15 following a three-point play by Victor Jusino.
 
The Greyhounds pushed ahead by eight points before the Setters rallied to slice the score down to four points. Pearson netted a pair at the line, while Shelton Mickell added a lay-up to cut the score to 25-21 with 4:45 left in the half. Assumption controlled the rest of the half, leading by double digits at the break.
 
Early in the second half, Mickell got the Setters going with a lay-up and Khalil Brown added a jumper to close the gap to nine points at the 18:39 mark. The Greyhounds netted the ensuing nine points to go back up double digits and led the rest of the way.
 
For Pace, Pearson led the way with 19 points along with six boards and two steals. Mickell added 18 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Brown chipped in 13 points. Bryan Rivers grabbed seven boards and dished out three assists.
 
The Setters hit the road this weekend as they travel to Waltham, MA for an NE-10 clash against the Bentley University Falcons on Saturday, January 31 at 3:30 pm.
