Hackett Nets 18 Points in Loss to New Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT- Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY/Pawling) (Pawling, NY/Pawling) totaled 18 points as the women's basketball team fell to the New Haven Chargers 56-42 in Northeast-10 Conference action.

The Setters (5-18, 4-13 NE-10) trailed 6-0 before rallying to take a 9-8 lead on a Jeane Drury (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) triple at the 12:12 mark. The teams traded leads over the next six minutes but Pace held an 18-14 lead at the 6:07 mark. The Chargers (16-8, 11-7 NE-10) answered to take a 22-21 lead before the Setters answered down the stretch. Hackett connected on a trifecta and added a free throw in the final 30 seconds of the half as Pace headed into the break in the lead at 25-23.

Pace built on their halftime advantage as Hackett's trifecta with 15:58 to play put the Setters in front 32-27. Shanice Allen (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) staked the Setters to their largest lead of the game with a lay-up at the 11:48 mark for a 36-29 lead. The Chargers rallied to take a 42-38 lead with and extended to double figures in the final minutes of play.

For Pace, Hackett connected on 4-of-7 from downtown for 18 points, while Allen shot 3-for-6 from long range as she finished with nine points. Kirsten Dodge (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds to go along with her eight points.

The Setters travel to New Haven, CT for an NE-10 game against the Southern Connecticut State Owls on Wednesday, February 19 at 5:30 pm.
