Women’s Basketball Earns Third Straight Win

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman guard Gabriella Rubin shot 5-10 from behind the arc and led Pace with 17 points as the Pace University Women's Basketball team defeated Felician 72-51 to give the Setters their third consecutive victory. With the win, the Setters advance to 5-6, 2-4 NE-10 while Felician drops to 1-11, 0-5 CACC.

The Pace offense was on fire during the opening 5:24 of the contest as Rubin scored eight points to help the Setters build a 13 point lead. During that same stretch, junior Rachel Dortch netted a layup and converted five free throws. Felician fought back and cut the deficit to just five when Alexa Dietrich splashed a jumper and Rubin added another triple that built the Setter advantage back to ten. With 1:58 remaining in the first half, and Pace leading by six, Rubin again rattled home a shot from behind the arc to increase the lead to nine. Felician added back-to-back buckets, but Yuni Sher and Margo Hackett added baskets in the final two Pace possessions to take an eight point lead into the locker room.

Pace stayed hot into the second half as freshman Geena Rosalbo drilled a shot from downtown just a minute into the period. That basket sparked a 10-2 run for the Setters that was capped off by a Jordan Cunningham layup. Two possessions later, Pace again went on a flurry when Eva Hart connected on a layup to ignite a 21-6 Setter rally. The run included eight points by Hart and was ended by five straight Jaclyn Oskam points when she put in a layup and hit a three-pointer. The key stretch helped Pace gain a 25 point lead, their largest of the contest. During the final minutes of the game, Sher went 2-2 at the stripe while Hart added another triple to help the Setters ground the Golden Falcons 72-51.

Sher scored ten points with a season-best 14 rebounds and four assists to lead the Setters. Rubin added four rebounds and a trio of steals to her team-best 17 points. Hart chipped in 11 points and five rebounds while Hackett added eight points and four assists. Oskam registered eight points and five rebounds. Dortch netted nine points with six rebounds. Sher and Dortch each added two blocks.

The Setters are off until 2015 as they take on Dominican in the Goldstein Fitness Center on January 2nd at 2:00 p.m.
