Margo Hackett posted her second career double-double, including tying her career-bests in rebound and triples, as the Setters won their second straight with an 80-69 win over the Caldwell University Cougars in non-conference action.
The Setters improve to 4-6 overall, while the Cougars fall to 5-5 on the season.
Caldwell led most of the way early in the game as they build a four-point lead at 14-10 near the midway point of the opening half. The Setters rallied with a 21-7 run to pull ahead by double digits late in the half.
Jaclyn Oskam netted a triple with a lay-up, while Hackett also totaled five points in the run.
Yuni Sher led the way with eight points in the rally as part of the big first half for the junior forward to put Pace up 31-21 with 2:44 left in the half. The Setters took a 37-27 lead into the break.
The Setters continued their hot shooting into the second half as Hackett connected on three trifectas in the first three minutes to push the Pace lead to 20 points. Oskam also drained three from long range in the second half and Hackett's fourth three-pointer of the game came at the 8:25 mark to give Pace their largest lead of the game at 70-48.
The Cougars trimmed the lead down to single digits at 76-67 with 1:41 to play but the Setters headed to the free throw line down the stretch. Hackett and
Gabriella Rubin both went 2-for-2 in the final 1:40 to secure Pace's second straight win.
For the Setters, Hackett's second career double-double led the way for Pace. She tied a career high with 11 rebounds and five triples, while netting a season-high 19 points along with six assists. Oskam contributed 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while
Rachel Dortch added 16 points and three boards. Sher totaled 14 points and five assists to round out the double-figure scorers on the day. Rubin chipped in seven rebounds and five assists, while
Geena Rosalbo finished with seven points and six assists.
