MANCHESTER, N.H.- The Setters dropped a twin bill to the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire, falling in the opener 6-2 and 12-4 in the nightcap. Pace falls to 10-11 overall, while the Penmen improve to 10-8 on the season.
In the opener, Natalie Gellos (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) got the Setters on the board in the opening inning with a two-run homerun. The Penmen tied the score in the first and five runs in the third and fourth innings to take the opener 6-2.
Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) fell to 5-5 on the season as she tossed a complete game, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits and struck out four.
In the nightcap, Pace again got off to an early lead with a run in the first inning on a Hana Wright (Hillsboro, OR/Valley Catholic) (Hillsboro, OR/Valley Catholic) run scoring single. Southern New Hampshire took a 3-1 lead with three runs in their half of the first.
The Setters answered with three runs in the third powered by a three-run homerun by Katie Lange (Upland, CA/St. Lucy's Priory) (Upland, CA/St. Lucy's Priory) to put Pace back in the lead at 4-3. The Penmen plated nine runs over the final three inning as they took game two 12-4 in five innings.
Kelly Fisher (Castle Rock, CO/Douglas County) took the loss to fall to 4-4 on the season as she went 3 2/3 innings, allowing 11 runs (nine earned) on eight hits and struck out two.
The Setters are back in action on Wednesday, April 10 as they travel to West Haven, CT for an NE-10 Southwest Division twin bill against the University of New Haven starting at 3 pm.
