Lacrosse Falls to Saint Michael's

PLESANTVILLE, N.Y. - Senior Matt Mirabito (Binghamton, NY/Broome CC) (Binghamton, NY/Broome CC) totaled four points as the Setters fell to the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College 13-6 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters fall to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the NE-10, while the Purple Knights improve to 6-2 and 5-0 in conference play.

Saint Michael's jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and a half before the Setters got on the board. Matt Gebhardt (West Islip, NY/West Islip) (West Islip, NY/West Islip) scored the first Pace goal at the 7:50 mark of the second quarter with Mirabito tallied the second goal just over a minute later. The Purple Knights added a goal later in the quarter as they held an 8-2 lead at the break.

The Purple Knights opened with three goals to start the second half, including a man-up tally. William Scioscia (Somerset, NJ/Immaculata) (Somerset, NJ/Immaculata) scored late in the third quarter but Saint Michael's netted a late man-up goal to lead 12-3 after three. The Setters came out strong in the final quarter as Mirabito scored with 9:11 left in the game. Marty Schnellenbach (Ridge, NY/Longwood) (Ridge, NY/Longwood) scored seven second later after winning the ensuing faceoff. Gebhardt tallied the final Pace goal of the day off an assist by Mirabito to cut the score to 12-6. Saint Michael's added a late goal and took the win.

For Pace, Mirabito finished with two goals and two assists on the day, while Gebhardt tallied a pair of goals. Freshman Goalie Conor Brophy (Pompton Lakes, NJ/DePaul Catholic) (Pompton Lakes, NJ/DePaul Catholic) recorded five saves in just under 40 minutes of work between the pipes, while Timothy Izzo (Trumbull, CT/St. Joseph/Franklin Pierce) posted six saves as he played just over 20 minutes in net.

The Setters return to action on Tuesday, April 9 as they will host the College of Saint Rose Golden Knights in NE-10 action at Pace Field at 4:00 pm.
