PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Michael Tamburino (Baldwin, NY/Holy Trinity) (Baldwin, NY/Holy Trinity) and Neil Pezzullo (Harwich, MA/Harwich) (Harwich, MA/Harwich) turned in strong outings as the Setters swept the Yellow Jackets of American International College in Northeast-10 Southwest Division play. Pace took the opener 6-3 and completed the sweep with a 1-0 win in the nightcap. The Setters remain in first place in the Southwest Division as they improve to 22-9 overall and 7-1 in the division, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 13-13 and 1-6 in division play.

In the opener, Brandon Martineson (Prospect, KY/Warwick (NY)) (Prospect, KY/Warwick) doubled in the first run of the game in the opening inning. The Yellow Jackets tied the score in the second but Pace answered with a pair of runs in their half of the innings. Bobby Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) (Stamford, CT/Westhill) drove in the go-ahead run with a single, while Chris Gili (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) (Manorville, NY/Eastport-South Manor) gave the Setters a 3-1 lead with a sacrifice fly.

Pace added to their lead in the fifth as Charlie Galasso (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) drove in a pair of runs with a single, while James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) (Shelton, CT/Shelton) blasted a lead-off solo homerun in the sixth. The Yellow Jackets added a run in the seventh and one in the eighth but Nick Sammartano (Huntington Station, NY/Huntington) (Huntington Station, NY/Huntington) came on in relief and closed the door in the opener.

For the Setters, Gili and Horn both went 2-for-3 and each had one RBI and scored a run. Tamburino (2-1) tossed seven strong innings, allowing two unearned runs on six hits, while striking out seven. Samartano allowed one run on three hits in two innings of work and struck out one.

In the nightcap, the Setters manufactured the lone run of the game in the fifth inning. Martineson led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. He moved to third on a single and scored on a Jon Kovel (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) ground-out. The one run was all starter Pezzullo (4-2) needed as he tossed a two-hitter over eight scoreless innings, striking out 11 in the game Eddie Byrne (Yonkers, NY/Archbishop Stepanic) retired all three batters he faced in the ninth in strikeouts to pick up his fourth save of the season
